2 weeks after the previous photos were taken, when I was back at Quinta dos Lilases to check soil, plants and general condition, mapping oncoming wind, sun, frost... (continued work on "sector analysis"). By now most the flowers were gone, the trees were now full of leaves and hidden in the trees a surprise awaited... tiny green fruits were all over the place! Yes, millions of flowers turned into millions of fruits. Green and tiny for now, but hopefully red and delicious soon!
But what fruits are these? The leaf could be from a cherry tree, but the fruits look more like cherry plums than sweet cherries. I'm still not sure! The good news is that either way they're edible :-)
I've counted over 15 trees, so If it's cherry plum, some can be used to graft apricots, while others can stay as they are and be eaten raw or used for baking tarts and making jam. Any other ideas?
It seems that our Orchard is much closer to reality than we first imagined. Great news!!
