I met Gaetano Carboni at the Idea Camp 2014. As we were discussing our projects Gaetano suggested I visit Pollinaria to have a sense of a farm in action, to get to see an olive grove in action. One of the best things that ECF's Idea Camp made possible were new connections between different people and projects, all different kinds of thought exchanges and new links. Luckily both our projects were selected for the R&D Grants, and so it was possible for me to accept Gaetano's kind invitation.
So here I am at Pollinaria , in Abruzzo, Italy. First of all, it is absolutely beautiful here. Pollinaria is between 2 high mountains that are natural parks. The farm, besides producing olive oil, wine and wheat, has an artist residency center and is a great setting to do a hand-on research, as Gaetano made it possible for me to meet his staff, an agronomist, local (organic) fruit producers and to walk around the farm and learn.
Thank you Gaetano!
